I tend to move beyond deep listening and compassion to offer a new perspective, insight, skills and/or tools. An effective, experienced queer, trans masc and non-binary counsellor (he, him), who is Vietnamese and Laotian, I am an immigrant and settler on the unceded, ancestral and traditional territories of the Squamish (Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw), Tsleil-Waututh (səl̓ilw̓ətaʔɬ) and Musqueam (xʷməθkʷəy̓əm) and other Coast Salish nations, colonially known as Vancouver, BC, Canada. Ideally, we would work as a team to help you make the changes you want. My approach tends to leave a lot of space for you to express what you like and is also active and engaged. For example, I might offer another perspective, a question, and/or a tool or skill. My tendency is to check-in with you to clarify if this is the direction you'd like to explore or if something else feels more alive at this time. My approaches are grounded in compassion, respect, non-judgment, anti-oppression and anti-racism, including an intersectional lens. My hope is that you will feel seen, heard, understood, supported and resourced.
